Seeking new Volunteer Board members

 

Role

As a Board member you will be responsible for:

    • ·         Setting and supporting the Centre’s strategic aims
    • ·         Ensuring high standards of governance and accountability
    • ·         Maintaining proper financial oversight
    • ·         Supporting the Director, staff and volunteers
    • ·         Promoting the Centre

 

Key skills

Previous Board experience is not necessary, but we are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to children’s rights, sound judgement and an ability to think creatively. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.

 

We are particularly keen to receive applications from individuals with experience and expertise in the areas of:

  • Fundraising
  • Child and Family Law
  • Information Governance 
  • Human Resources and Organisational Development

Commitment

The Board meets roughly once every six weeks and there is also an expectation that you will participate in the life of the organisation between Board meetings, advising the staff team and acting in an ambassadorial role for the Centre. Board meetings are currently held at 4.30pm on Thursday afternoons in Edinburgh.

 

Term of office

Positions are advertised for a period of 3 years (term may be renewed).

Wanted! Volunteer experienced Family Law Solicitors

The Scottish Child Law Centre is a very small and underfunded charity and would very much value the input  and time of solicitors with family law experience.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it   to arrange a meeting here at the Centre to discuss current projects and tasks which could benefit from your input, as well as your experience and availability.     

The main tasks which we require asssitance with are:

  • Dealing with service users' telephone queries
  • Dealing with service users' email queries (which can be done remotely from home)
  • Supervising law student research volunteers

We would happily accept any time you can give us and can be flexible about times.
