Group visits

We offer training courses to people working with children and young people, to make sure that they know about the law and about your rights.

We train all sorts of people from teachers to health workers.  If you want us to visit your school, youth club or other group, let us know by calling 0131 667 6333, or email us at training@sclc.org.uk.  You could also talk to one of the adults in your group and ask them to contact us.

List of training courses

The SCLC offers the following training programmes:

  • Anti-Social behaviour legislation
  • Confidentiality
  • Children (Scotland) Act 1995
  • Child Protection
  • Rights of Looked After Children
  • Youth Rights
  • Young People, Sex, and Medical Consent
  • Children's Hearings
  • Education Law: Children's Rights in Education, Disability Discrimination, Pre-School Education, Access to School Records, and Additional Support Needs
  • Court Skills
  • Police Powers

The details of the training are negotiable and will depend very much on whom the training is for.  The training team may be able to adjust training courses to suit your group.

To talk to us about what you need, please call the training team on 0131 667 6333 or email training@sclc.org.uk.
