LEXTXT Service
Free Text Message Advice Service
The Scottish Child Law Centre has the LEXTXT service, a different way for children and young people to get advice, all for free. Simply text 'SCLC' followed by your question to 80800. We will send you and answer direct to your mobile phone. There is no charge for sending or receiving messages. If the answer is too long or complicated will will ask to speak to you on the phone (free call) or by email.
One of our advisors will send you an answer direct to your mobile phone. It's free to send a message, and the things you tell us are confidential. - unless we think that you or someone else is in real danger.
You can ask anything about child law or children's rights - about school, your parents splitting up, health, going to a children's hearing, being in trouble with the police, or anything else that is affecting you. Whatever your question is, get in touch and we will do what we can to help. If the answer to your question is too long or complicated for a text we will reply to ask if we can talk to you on the phone or email you!
To find out what other children and young people have called us about, check out Your Questions.
What you said about this service
We asked more than 400 children and young people across Scotland what they thought about finding out about their rights and the law.
More than half said that they would prefer to find out about their rights by text message, instead of by telephone or email. 9 out of 10 children and young people had their own mobile phone, and three quarters of them sent at least 10 text messages a week.
Easier for you
This service will make it easier for you to get the information and advice you need about your rights and how the law affects you. You can send us questions any time, from anywhere.
